Connect Your Gmail to Orlo and Never Upload a Document Again

Most of the important documents in your life arrive by email. Your car insurance renewal. The energy bill. A booking confirmation for next month. A tax letter from HMRC. They sit in your inbox, buried under newsletters and marketing, and by the time you need to act on them the deadline has already passed.

Orlo fixes this. Connect your Gmail account in Settings and Orlo starts watching your inbox for documents that matter. When an email arrives with a PDF or image attachment that looks like a real document, Orlo pulls it in, reads it with AI, extracts the key details, and sets reminders before any deadlines. You do not need to open the app. You do not need to download anything. It just happens.

How It Works

When you connect Gmail, Orlo starts by looking back over the last six months of your inbox. It finds emails with document attachments and filters out the noise. Marketing emails, newsletters, social media notifications, and password resets are all ignored. Only real documents get imported.

After that first scan, Orlo checks your inbox every 30 minutes for new emails. When your insurance company sends your renewal, Orlo has it before you even read the email. The AI identifies it as an insurance policy, pulls out the provider, policy number, start date, end date, and renewal date, and creates four reminders starting six weeks before expiry.

What Gets Imported

Orlo imports any email with a PDF or image attachment that is not obviously spam. In practice, this catches:

  • Insurance renewal letters and policy documents
  • Utility bills from your energy, water, and broadband providers
  • Invoices and receipts
  • Booking confirmations for hotels, flights, and appointments
  • Tax letters and self-assessment notices
  • MOT certificates and vehicle documents
  • Warranty documents and purchase confirmations

If something gets imported that you did not want, you can delete it from your inbox in Orlo. And if the sync picks up too much, you can pause it or disconnect entirely from Settings.

Does It Count Towards My Upload Limit?

Yes. Auto-imported documents count towards your monthly upload allowance, just like manual uploads. If you are on the free plan with 5 uploads per month and have used 3, the sync will import a maximum of 2 more and stop. You will never go over your limit.

Privacy and Security

Orlo uses Gmail read-only access. It cannot send emails, delete messages, or modify your inbox in any way. It only reads message metadata and downloads attachments. Your email content is never stored. Only the attachment file, the subject line, and the sender address are kept for the import log.

You can disconnect at any time from Settings, which immediately stops all inbox scanning. You can also revoke access from your Google account directly.

Getting Started

Go to Settings in Orlo, scroll to Connected Accounts, and click Connect Gmail. You will be taken to Google's consent screen where you approve read-only access. Once connected, Orlo starts scanning immediately. Your first documents should appear within minutes.
