Why return windows slip past unnoticed

A receipt is not designed to remind you of anything on its own.

Return windows are shorter than they feel

Most retailers give 30 days to return an item, which sounds generous until the receipt gets buried in an inbox or a drawer and the window quietly closes.

Digital receipts are easy to lose

An emailed receipt scrolls out of view within a day. Unless it is saved somewhere deliberate, there is nothing bringing it back to your attention before the return date passes.

Not every receipt needs this, but some do

A returnable purchase, like clothing, electronics, or something bought as a gift, benefits from a genuine reminder in a way a routine grocery receipt does not.

How it works

1

Upload the receipt

Orlo reads the merchant, the purchase date, and the amount automatically, whether it is a photo, a screenshot, or a PDF.

2

Get reminded before the window closes

Orlo assumes a 30 day return window and suggests reminders 14 days and 28 days after purchase, so you have time to decide and act.

3

Return it or keep it, on your terms

A reminder before the deadline means the decision is yours, not one made for you by a missed date.

Receipts are just the start

Orlo also tracks warranty periods and subscriptions hiding in the same pile of receipts. See everything Orlo can remind you about.

Frequently asked questions

How does Orlo know the return window?
Orlo assumes a standard 30 day return window from the purchase date shown on the receipt, and suggests reminders partway through and near the end of that window.
What if the retailer has a shorter or longer policy?
The 30 day assumption covers the most common policy. Any suggested reminder can be adjusted to a different date if you know the actual return window is different.
Does this work for recurring charges too?
No, recurring charges like subscriptions are treated differently. Orlo recognises a recurring charge on a receipt and switches to a renewal reminder instead of a return window reminder.
Can I keep receipts for warranty purposes as well?
Yes, and if the item comes with a longer warranty document separately, Orlo tracks that on its own timeline too, alongside the shorter return window on the receipt.
