Workspaces: Keeping Personal, Business, and Property Documents Separate
A workspace is a completely separate container for documents, reminders, and a dashboard. Everyone gets a Personal workspace automatically when they sign up. From there, you can create more to keep different parts of life apart — a Business workspace for a side hustle, one workspace per rental property, or a Shared household workspace with a partner.
Why bother separating things?
Each workspace has its own inbox, its own household dashboard, its own reminders, and its own email forwarding address. If you run a small business and forward supplier invoices to your Business workspace's address, they never end up mixed in with your personal insurance renewals. Come tax time, everything relevant to the business is already filed separately.
How many workspaces do I get?
- Free: 1 workspace (your Personal one) — no invites
- Basic: up to 3 workspaces, and you can invite 1 person across all of them
- Pro: up to 20 workspaces, and you can invite up to 10 people across all of them
These limits are about workspaces you own. If someone else invites you into their workspace, it doesn't count against your own limit.
Roles: owner, editor, viewer
When you invite someone into a workspace, you choose their role. An editor can upload documents and manage reminders, useful for a partner sharing household admin or an accountant filing receipts on your behalf. A viewer can see everything but can't add or change anything — good for someone who just needs visibility, like a landlord's letting agent. The owner is whoever created the workspace and is the only one who can delete it or remove other members.
Setting one up
Use the workspace switcher in the sidebar to create a new workspace and give it a name and type (Personal, Household, Business, Property, or Other). Each workspace gets its own forwarding email address automatically — find it, and the invite option, under "Manage this workspace" once you've switched into it.
